Mr David Froggett - Head of KS4
I began my teaching career after returning to the from working in Nepal , working as a River and Mountain guide on the Sun Khosi River and leading expeditions up mountains such as Ama Dablam and Mera Peak. Having also worked in Morocco, Tanzania as well as out in South America on Aconcagua. Geography was natural subject choice, having also studied Earth Sciences at University .
I think Former President Barack Obama put it best “The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It’s about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it’s about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together.”
There is something in Geography for everyone from the Scientist looking at Global Warming, to looking at the weather forecast for your Bank Holiday trip. Geography is involved in it all.
I have run the Duke of Edinburgh Award at all my previous schools , with a few trips to both St. James’ and Buckingham Palace and I look forward to getting involved with the DofE Award here at the Priory and helping the students on their DofE journey which will hopefully end in a trip to the Palace as well.
When not climbing my other major hobby is playing and coaching hockey for Wimbledon Hockey Club coaching everything from U9 to the Men’s teams who play in the Premier League .
Teaching, climbing and playing hockey is all about “It's not about being the best, it's about being better than you were yesterday” and that is what I want from my students for them to be better then they the day before.
