Department Information
- There are 3 MFL lessons per fortnight on the timetable at KS3.
- All our Modern Language lessons are taught in mixed ability tutor groups.
- From September to the February half-term, students study French and each year will build on their foundational knowledge.
- After the February break, students resume with Spanish, following a similar curriculum to the French, allowing for a 2nd language option to be developed.
- In year 10 and 11, students will have 5 lessons per fortnight. The GCSE follows a topic-based approach whilst offering plenty of speaking and grammar practice opportunities. Every half-term, the students are tested with a written based assessment/ topic test.
- At GCSE, students are entered for either Foundation or Higher tier exams, which is informed by close data monitoring. Foundation allows for students to achieve grades 1-5. Higher tier allows students to achieve grades 3- 9.
- MFL GCSE revision guides are available to purchase on the school website via Scope pay.
- All students at GCSE will have access to Quizlet to allow for independent practice and homework.
