Duke of Edinburgh's Award
The Award was set up by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1956.
A recent survey of the top 100 employers in the UK rated DofE as the most important non academic accreditation for young people. UCAS state that they look at it as the most looked for item on a personal statement.
The Priory offers the Bronze Award in Year 9 and the Silver Award in Year 10.
The DofE gives a chance to gain new skills and interests, get fit, have fun and broaden your horizons. When you complete your programme, you’ll achieve a highly respected Award that can help open doors in the future, whatever you’re hoping to do.
The DofE is non-competitive and open to all young people – it’s about setting your own personal aims, overcoming your own challenges and pushing your own boundaries.
Students starting their Award in September 2023
In Year 9, the Bronze Award is offered, starting in September of the Autumn term. Expeditions take place in the Summer term 2024.
In Year 10, the Silver Award can be started in September of the Autumn term. You do not have to have taken part in the Bronze Award, as you can start as a ‘direct entrant’. Expeditions will take place in the Easter holidays 2024 and then in the summer term.

Silver
We are delighted to offer students the opportunity to sign up to do their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s
Award with The Priory School.
The Silver Award offers great personal development and will support college/Uni applications going forward. We would encourage those who have completed their Bronze and also those who did not take part in Y9, to take up this opportunity. You can join directly at Silver.
