'In Year' applications (any application for years 8-11, or year 7 after the school year has started)
You can apply via the Surrey County Council website here or you can apply directly to the school by completing this form and sending it to us with copies of the relevant additional information.
Once we have received the form, you will be notified of the result within 10 school days if possible, or 15 school days at the latest. We will provide a reason for refusal if we are unable to offer a place and you will have the right to appeal.
If we do not have space in the required year group, you will be advised and added to a waiting list. Waiting lists will be held until 31 July each year when they will be cancelled. Applicants who wish a child to go on the waiting list for the next academic year must reapply using the ‘in-year’ admission form.
There are six steps in the application process:
Step 1: Research and choose schools to apply for
You research and choose the schools that you want to apply for. You can apply for up to six schools. You should also check if your child will be eligible for free home to school transport to your chosen schools. If your child is not eligible for free home to school transport it will be your responsibility as a parent to get your child to and from school.
You should try to do this as early as possible.
Step 2: Complete the application form
You complete the application form and return it to the local authority where you live. You submit supporting documents with your application form if you are applying under exceptional social or medical criteria.
Step 3: Applications are assessed
Applications are ranked according to each school’s criteria. Surrey CC then determine the best offer that can be made based on the order of preferences on your application form.
Step 4: Surrey CC offer you a place
Surrey CC will tell you the outcome of your application.
Step 5: You accept or decline the place
You must accept or decline the place by the deadline set by Surrey CC.
Step 6: If you don’t get a place at your preferred school
If you are unhappy with the school place that has been offered, you can appeal. For Surrey schools you must do this by the dates shown in the appeals timetable or the dates set out against each school in Surrey’s directory of Surrey schools.
You can also add your child’s name to the waiting list for your preferred school.

In-year or immediate entry appeals

Appellants will be sent notification of their appeal hearing at least 10 clear school days in advance of the hearing. Appellants will be sent a copy of the school’s case, normally a week in advance of the hearing.
Appellants must ensure that any further evidence not included with their initial appeal is received by the stated deadline, which will be clearly highlighted in the appeal hearing notification letter. Any additional evidence or information received after this date might not be considered at the appeal hearing.
