Department Information
The department is well resourced by having three dedicated computer suites, each with 30 computers. Computing is seen as a key subject to study both at Key Stage 3, Where you get two lessons per two week cycle and Key Stage 4. Students are allocated 5 lessons per 2-week cycle.

KS3 Overview
The Key stage 3 Computer Science curriculum aims at fostering our students’ proficiency and responsibility in technology use by cultivating knowledge in digital literacy and e-safety.
We believe in providing our students with a comprehensive understanding of the ethical and legal considerations concerning the use of technology, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to be responsible global citizens in a world where technology plays a significant role in our daily lives.
The curriculum covers a variety of topics including Computer systems, Networks, The Internet, Data representation, Cyber security and Programming which enable students to continue studying Computer Science at KS4.
KS4 Overview
Computer Science, which is a two paper, exam based qualification covering computing hardware, programming theory and programming practice.
Students will apply the knowledge they learnt in Key Stage 3 at a more in-depth level. By analysing problems in computational thinking topics, they will develop problem-solving and programming skills, preparing themselves for further studies in the next level of a Computer Science-related field.
