On Saturday 10th February we arrived once more at the Wiederkehr Jugendhotel. The Ski team of Mr Loader, Mrs Brundish, Mr Sherringham, Miss Parkins, Mr Larkin and Mrs Meickle and the students were greeted by our returning Club Europe Rep Maria and we quickly settled into our home for the week.
On a snowy Sunday morning we met our four fantastic Ski instructors. After introductions all groups were underway. The weather heated up during the week but we were blessed with plenty of snow and it was a great week on the slopes. .
Evening entertainment was a big part of the trip with Sunday being the famous ski trip quiz, swimming at the Wasserwelt on Monday and the sportshall and games night on Tuesday. Wednesday was a particular highlight as we were off to see the Zell am See Ice bears in action (EK Zeller Eisbären) for an all action ice hockey match.
Our traditional dress-up day was moved to Tuesday this year to coincide with Carnival in Austria. The Kids TV theme, featuring costumes like Winnie the Pooh, Teletubbies, and C3PO, added to the festive atmosphere.
On Thursday students took to the slalom course to try to set the fastest time. The overall winner was Sophie Hunt but it was amazing to see the progress of all of the students throughout the week. This was recognised at the awards ceremony that night where the ski instructors and teachers gave out their awards.
Friday marked the final day of skiing before our journey home.
Many thanks to all the students, staff, ski instructors, ski rep and of course our two amazing coach drivers Alice and Jason.
We look forward to returning to Wiederkehr again in 2025.
Skiing was the best part of the trip for me, but I enjoyed every second of this trip. We skied every day, swam, played sports, watched hockey, participated in fun quizzes about teachers. In my personal opinion that was the best school trip I’ve ever had”
