Ski Trip to Austria February 2023

After much anticipation the 2023 Ski Trip to Wagrain in Austria went ahead this February half term.

After an early morning arrival, to our home for the week, the Wiederkehr Jugendhotel we were welcomed by our fantastic returning Club Europe Rep Maria who joined the Ski team of Mr Loader, Mrs Brundish, Mr Sherringham, Mrs Freeman, Miss Parkins and Mr Larkin.

The Saturday kicked off with collecting all our ski equipment and then once set up for skiing we relaxed with a Pizza lunch at the restaurant under the gondola. Mini-golf followed to get our sporting week underway.

Sunday saw the first of our 6 sunny days of skiing and was our first meeting with our four fantastic ski instructors, Yvana, Natalia, Elleke and Johanna who were amazing with our students all week.

Evening entertainments also added to the trip with curling on the Sunday, Monday was a games night and swimming, Tuesday saw the famous ski trip quiz and we used the hotels sports hall. Wednesday was a particular highlight as we went to see the Zell am See Ice bears in action (EK Zeller Eisbären) for an all action ice hockey match where they came out on top 4-2

Thursday as is Priory tradition was fancy dress ski day with the theme of Movies and also the race day!

Students took to the slalom course to try to set the fastest time. The overall winner was Dan Head but it was amazing to see the progress of all of the students throughout the week. This was recognised at the awards ceremony that night where the ski instructors and teachers gave out their awards.

Friday saw the last day of skiing and an outing to the Wasserwelt swimming pool for a swim, slide and relax for before dinner and our journey home.

Many thanks to all the students, staff, ski instructors, ski rep and of course our two amazing coach drivers Dean and David.

We look forward to returning to Wiederkehr again in 2024.

It was so cool, especially the extra activities we did. I really enjoyed the ice hockey trip and curling

It was a fantastic adventure. I made lots of new friends.

The coach was long but it was worth the wait. The skiing and the snow were really good. All the food was nice. I would highly recommend it even if you aren’t sure if you like skiing or not as there is something for everyone. The evening activities were exquisite.
